Argentinian citizens cannot apply for an ESTA
Argentina joined the Visa Waiver Program in 1996 and was removed in 2002
Argentina is currently being assessed for the Visa Waiver Program for entry in the near future
Argentinian citizens are not eligible to apply for an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) visa waiver to travel to the United States, however, this may change.
Visa Waiver Program countries can have their memberships revoked at any time. Argentina was previously a member of the Visa Waiver Program from 1996 - 2002. The reason membership was terminated was due to the United States government's concerns of the financial crisis taking place in Argentina and the possibility that a high number of Argentinians would take advantage of the Visa Waiver Program to find employment opportunities and likely to violate the conditions of their visa waivers. Examples of violations would be overstaying the permitted time on a visa waiver or seeking employment in the U.S. whilst on a visa waiver.
Thus, Argentinian citizens will need to obtain a visa to travel to the United States for tourism, business, transit or any other travel purposes. For more information on applying for a U.S. visa, Argentinian citizens can visit: https://usa-visas.com
The United States government continually evaluates the economic and political environment of a Visa Waiver Program member country. Possible member countries are assessed for their overall domestic stability as well as the likelihood that citizens of a member country would abuse the Visa Waiver Program. The significance of these considerations is that they ensure a visa waiver applicant's home country is not facing political or economic turmoil, and thus the traveler would be less likely to violate the rules of the program.
